Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Praha)

The town of Praha began its life as Mulberry, then Hottentot. Its name was changed to Praha (Prague) in 1858. A Christmas mass was celebrated in a small frame church in 1865. The present church built primarily of rock, sits atop a hill in a beautiful oak grove. Frank Teich, a renowned artist and sculptor, was called upon to carve a statue of Christ. It is said that the donor of this statue paid for it with $300 in gold.

Gottfried Flury, a Swiss-born artist, painted the vaulted ceiling. It has been repainted since that time.
